The Children’s Museum at Saratoga’s school vacation workshops are created to engage and enrich children’s out of school time through learning and play. These workshops are half-day programs that are designed to build children’s critical thinking skills, curiosity and love of learning. They are designed to challenge each child to think outside the box and to challenge what they know and how they learn.
• School Vacation Workshops are open for all children in K through 3rd grade.
• Each Workshop is $25 for members / $30 for future members
• Workshop length: 3 hours
• Pre-registration required, in order for workshop to run we need a minimum of 5 participants.
10/9/2017 – 9am-noon – The Wonders of Water!
Join us for a fun filled morning of experiments and investigations in water! We will explore surface tension, buoyancy, and density as campers get their hands wet exploring things that sink and those that float! All campers will use what they’ve learned to design their own expert floating boats!
10/9/2017 – 1pm-4pm – MY COMMUNITY: Saratoga Springs
Children will spend the afternoon exploring the neighborhood within and outside the museum. They will explore the history, the architecture and the culture of the neighborhood around the museum. After touring the local neighborhood, they will come back to the museum to design and build their own version of a neighborhood using building kits and recycled materials.
10/20/2017 – 9am-noon – Challenge in a BOX
Have you heard the story of how duct tape saved Apollo 13 and its crew? Do you think you could you be so clever? In this camp, every box brings a new experiment. Campers will work cooperatively in teams to design and build prototype devices to solve a variety of challenges, bringing science, design, technology, engineering, and math together in a fun,engaging way.
10/20/2017 – 1pm-4pm – Constructioneers
If you can dream it, you can build it! Join us for a fun filled afternoon using creative materials to plan, design and construct. In this workshop, children will build and create together and see if their engineering and problem-solving skills really stack up.
11/10/2017 – 9am-noon – Mini Masterpieces
In this camp program, children will express their inner artist as they paint away the morning! We will have the opportunity to mix mediums, experiment with different kinds of paint and explore new painting techniques in this art inspired camp.
11/22/2017 – 9am-noon – SustainABLE You!
Sustainability means healthy people, communities, and environments, now and in the future. Join us for this fun and interactive camp as we work our way through a series of Sustainability experiments brought to you by the NISE Network. We will investigate cool new sustainable products, participate in creating a sustainable community and explore what to do when resources get scarce!
